The Multiple Listings Service (MLS) is an information sharing and marketing system created several decades ago by cooperating realtors. It is easily the best tool you can use to find a property to purchase, compare your existing property to others on the market today, or to search other markets across Canada. It is also the primary resource buyers use to find a property you may be selling! The Multiple Listings Service is maintained by local real estate boards, and paid for by member agents. What you, as a consumer have access to through the MLS system is extensive, but not complete. Real estate agents have access to even more data and historical records which make working with both the MLS system and a real estate agent a good idea.
